Stage 4 Everyone
A DOCUMENTARY AND EUROPEAN TOUR WITH 5ª PUNKADA
WHAT
An action selected by MusicAIRE (an EU-funded project that aims to provide tailored-made instruments for the sector and contribute to a green, digital, just, and resilient recovery of the music ecosystem).
WHY
Accessibility has been a key subject in the music sector, in fact there’s a large community of people that face strong obstacles to participate in cultural events.
Legislation and good practices have been improving, so that everyone is allowed to participate as audiences, but there is still a lot to do regarding full artistic participation.
Stats show that nearly 15% of the European population face some sort of disability and stats also show that 0,5% of the European population works with music or performative arts.
It’s easy to understand that a community can and will participate more if they have role models on the stage and in the sector. There is a discussion to be made regarding accessibility for the artistic teams and other music professionals. 0,5% of 15% lead us to a number higher than 30 000 possible workers and thousands of new audiences.
HOW
Through a video documentation, we will visit 1ve cities from 1ve different countries to shoot informal talks that will join on the same table artists and professionals with disability, associations that work in the 1eld and music venues, reflecting and sharing experiences, referring to difficulties and best practices on accessibility, studying policy framing and leaving more ‘food for thought’ in policymaking
Then a music band (5ª Punkada – where four stage musicians have some kind of disability) will tour those cities and countries, facing the discussed difficulties and showing some best practices.
AT THE END
There will be a doc with the contribution of artists, music venues and associations to be shown and to disseminate the necessary discussion all over Europe.
WHICH COUNTRIES?
On the application we had considered Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg and Netherlands but we are not closing a door to any other European country, if it’s doable and interesting.
